Minimal, Chic and Rock’n’Roll.
The style of Costume National is marked by an unmistakably slim and sexy silhouette, resulting from Ennio Capasa's ability to merge Italian craftsmanship and a metropolitan, creative and avant-garde attitude.
Nasengold began life as an idea which was taken up on an impulse and developed creatively until it grew to have its own identity. Nasengold is different and wants to stand out from the crowd, tio be individual, direct and unmistakable. Behind Nasengold is fragrance designer Christian Plesch, who discovered his love of perfumery at the end of the nineties after a small detour into the world of painting. Like many other prominent German perfumers before him, Plesch began his training at the renowned Weserbergland Perfumery school belonging to a well-known German perfume house. As a junior perfumer he moved to Paris, where he developed his first major commissioned scents. Today Christian Plesch works as a succesfull lifestyle perfumer for a fragrance house in Hamburg. For Nasengold Christian Plesch combines ubiquitous aroma impressions with high quality natural products. With his fragrances he leaves the commercial world of fragrances behind and deliberately relies only on his own nose. His creations are characterized by an immediate clarity, with witty and playful notes that make them unmistakeable. In developing his fragrance ideas he is especially inspired by punk rock, caffeine, curves, impulsivity and painting.
KINSKI is an ingenious olfactory homage to a man whose complex personality enthralled and appalled a generation. It is a richly decadent, textured scent with heady top notes including cassis, juniper and castoreum; a heart with oceanic notes inspired by Kinski’s love of the sea; and a base of animalic and woody notes that reflect his own almost feral sensuality. “The ingredients list for KINSKI comes into its own when you look at his lifestyle,” says Schoen. “It was excessive, exuberant, debauched. So I instantly thought of something animalic, dirty…yet with me, there is always something clean too. It perfectly fits with this ambivalent thing that Kinski had. It’s an old cliche that there is a fine line between genius and madness. In Kinski’s case, it was a knife edge, and he danced along it his whole life. He was part international sophisticate, part idiot savant. And that kind of tension means that KINSKI is a perfect fit with our odd portfolio of fine conceptual fragrances.”
THE BEAUTIFUL MIND SERIES
The Beautiful Mind Series celebrates women - not in the conventional way of the fragrance industry, as objects of desire - but for their intelligence and creativity.
Volume 1: Intelligence & Fantasy was inspired by Memory Grandmaster, Christiane Stenger.
Volume 2: Precision & Grace was inspired by classical ballet dancer, Polina Semionova.
In a world awash with vacuous celebrity scents, it’s a radical move simply to foreground women of real achievement. But the influence of Stenger and Semionova goes beyond inspiration. Each of them worked in partnership with perfumer, Geza Schoen, exploring the repertoire of ingredients alongside him in the laboratory. The fragrances they developed are co-creations that reflect how the women themselves feel about their femininity.
